FAQ's

Can I bring props with to my shoot?

Yes! You can  bring anything you feel is important to enhance your photos. Some suggestions include; pets, instruments, uniforms, sports equipment, hats, etc...

We have some ideas of our own. Can we try them?

Absolutely! Come prepared with samples and props that your idea may require and let me know what you are thinking. I am always willing to try new things.

How far do you book out?

This really depends on the time of year and the event. The sooner you book the better, to ensure your date is available.

How long does the photo session last?

Most sessions last about 1-2 hours each depending on the type of session you scheduled.

We need to reschedule, what’s your policy?

24 hours notice is required to receive a full refund, otherwise your deposit will be kept.

What happens if it rains?

Weather is hard to predict and if necessary I will reschedule you to another day. Most times there are breaks in the rain where I will be able to work around. Just because it’s not sunny outside, doesn’t mean you won’t get beautiful pictures. Overcast days are good! You can also embrace the rain and get creative by bringing umbrellas, rain boots, etc...

When can I preview my pictures?

It takes about 1-2 weeks to go through the proofs. I will schedule a viewing appointment the day you come in for your session. The proofs will be uploaded to a password protected online album. You will then select the onces you would like to be edited.

What do I do after I view my pictures in the slideshow room?

I will give you a password to view your pictures in an online gallery. You can then take your time to figure out your order.

Can I put my pictures on Facebook?

Yes, you can share the pictures with your loved ones.

Can you remove your watermark from my photos in the online gallery?

No. The watermark is for copyright purposes and is an automated action that occurs on the images when we upload them to the gallery. If you’d like to see your images without the watermark, please contact me and I will set up an inperson viewing.

Will you touch up my photos?

Yes, we do professional retouching on small blemishes, dark under eyes, etc. Other than small blemishes and smoothing of certain skin areas, it is your responsibility to tell us what you want and do not want removed, lessened or retouched. We will make note of that on your order. Request for "major" retouching are extra and we will give you a quote for such work. The proofs you see online are unretouched and retouching occurs only on the images you order from.

When's the best time to take pictures?

Overcast days are usually great because the sun won't be shining in your eyes and cause squinting. Since that is very hard to determine, I make sure to find spots around town to avoid that. If you are doing indoor portraits, you can take those anytime between 9:30am and 5:30pm.

What should I wear?

Choose clothing that flatters your figure and reflects your personality. Black and darker clothing tends to slim you out, but if you are interested in adding color, jewel tones are great to photograph. Royal blues, purples, and teals are among the top choices. I want you to be comfortable so wear something you’re comfortable wearing. Accessories like jewelry and scarves are great, but not always necessary. Do bring powder or concealer if you tend to have oily skin so we can avoid shine!

What shouldn’t I wear?

Loud prints are distracting and may make you look heavier unless you are quite thin. Please don’t wear tube tops if you plan on doing portrait or head and shoulders shots since this will make you look nude. I don’t recommend wearing pastel clothing because it tends to wash you out if you have a pale skin tone, so I suggest wearing something that’s complimentary to your skin tone.

I wear eyeglasses. Can I wear them for my shoot?

Glasses can make you look smart and professional, but they can be a challenge for a good portrait. The key to a good portrait is capturing the eyes, and eyeglasses can distort or darken them, and cause unwanted reflections. To avoid the reflections, I sometimes have to use less flattering lighting. If you have contact lenses, is it better to wear them instead. Or, ask your optometrist if they will loan you a pair of frames without lenses. They will often do this free of charge, or for a small refundable deposit. Or you can remove your lenses and and maybe wear a backup pair to the studio.

Are your prices listed online?

I know that price is usually one of the first things my clients inquire about, however, I believe that each sessions deserves individualized quote. These quotes vary depending on, travel, length of session, as well as location. Please feel free to contact me if you have any price questions at info@soler-photography.com
